Lyn was recording Low Domestic with her project Drawn Ship; Hannah was finishing her first release, This Is Good. When Lyn heard Hannah’s voice in the studio, she invited her in to sing backing vocals—sparking an immediate creative bond and a deep mutual admiration for each other’s songwriting that would only grow.
Lyn went on to release music and tour nationally with Portico and Drawn Ship, earning critical praise across Canada and the U.S. and becoming a beloved fixture in the Vancouver music community. In 2013, pulled between touring, family life, and a career in mental health services, she stepped away from bands—continuing to write privately, without plans to release or perform again.
Hannah, committed fully to life as an artist, released four albums over the next decade. Her work garnered Juno and Polaris Prize nominations, Canadian #1 singles, Top 20 U.S. college radio charting, and acclaim from Rolling Stone and Pitchfork. She collaborated with Aaron Dessner (The National, Taylor Swift, Sharon Van Etten) and toured extensively worldwide alongside artists such as The National, Sara Bareilles, Broken Social Scene, Boy and Bear, Lucius and more.
Though years and miles apart, their friendship endured. In late 2023, after a long-overdue coffee during one of Hannah’s tour stops, the idea finally surfaced: to merge their worlds and make the music they’d both been quietly missing.
Armed with a unique split of perspectives and life paths, Hannah and Lyn created So Faint. A more steady guitar driven sound anchored by two voices blending with uncommon sincerity. Its irregular and disjointed rhythms stirred into ear wormy melodies make So Faint a car drive, couch vinyl, and headphone walking listen you didn’t know was waiting for you all along.
